The goatee is still a popular style of mustache, still worn by many celebrities today such as Kanye West, Will Smith, Bryan Cranston (as Walter White in Breaking Bad") etc.  Many professionals still wear it because it is a “clean” mustache and it does take some work to try to stylize and keep clean.
