Reasons I’m fine:
1. I know my monsters by name. They stay and crawl in bed with me. I’ve gone used to their nails on my skin.

2. Inferno is just a word. I’ve stitched it around me like a sweater; I’ve given it my own meaning. 

3. I am my own wind, and I’ve learnt to fly with just one wing. 

4. Screw galaxies and stars. I’m human and my body is not something for you to romanticize. 

5. You want me? Then take me raw. Drink in the sight of my cellulite, scar lines and clustered moles.

6. You want me? Then call these imperfections as they are. 

7. I don’t play by the rules of fairy tale; in fact I’m the wolf, the evil queen and the troll beneath the bridge.

8. I leave the graveyard dirt beneath my fingernails, and I don’t wipe the chocolate from my face.

9. I’ve stopped looking for love in his unsent texts.

10. Because my hair is messier than my heart.
11. I have a perfect smile.

12. I grabbed the bullet with my teeth.

13. My poems no longer taste like him.
14. But my coffee does, so I let it go cold.
