I was caught off-guard and didn't know what it meant: 我刚开始没反应过来，不知道他什么意思

Then the barista explained to me that "room" would allow me to add extra milk in myself: 后来咖啡师解释，"room"就是给我留点空间，自己可以加牛奶

I always want to get the most for my money, so I’d say no, take a big sip of my coffee and make some room myself, and then add some milk: 我觉得更合算的是，不要留空间，自己先喝一大口，然后再加奶

I once said "Can you not make it so hot?" 有一次我在美国买咖啡，跟咖啡师说，“可以不要那么烫吗？”
