"At the time of his death, September 3, 1962, he was the second most widely read poet in the United States, after Robert Frost. He is buried in Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston, Massachusetts."这是我在poets.org看到的。

    是的e.e. cummings的诗可不止《May I feel said he》一首,在我的认知里,我挺喜欢他的《Somewhere I Have Never Travelled》:

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
    the snow carefully everywhere descending;
    如果你愿靠近我,我和
    我的生命将会优美地闭合,刹那之间
    宛如花的灵魂纵情漫想
    雪花如何在大地到处飘落

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

说实话那次外教挑的e.e. cummings的诗是我之前没读过的,诗的名字是《maggie and milly and molly and may 》,全文如下:

maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach(to play one day)

and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and

    milly befriended a stranded star
    whose rays five languid fingers were;

and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles, and

may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.

For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea

某次晨跑听到《maggie and milly and molly and may 》都被唱成歌了!!!
