今天！12月1日，我们系统学习词根之旅起航啦～

我本人很讨厌“干背”单词，即便有例句有插图我也觉得干得很，所以基本是通过阅读来学单词；当时考出国留学考试也并没有背过单词，结果不坏。。。这本书虽说是词典，但我发现除了能够系统学到词根词源之外，还能收获一些地道自然的表达，能对希腊罗马神话和历史大事件加以了解和学习，所以我坚决决定学完这本，from cover to cover。

立个flag吧，weekday每天和大家学习一个词根（4个词，若干用法和值得背诵的句型句式）。本书一共200个词根，学完要200天也就是6个半月。。。（超级久所以后期我们入门了就加快点进度）即使如此，由于全书英文，我整理这些还是花了一个多小时啊摔！估计大家看完背完也要20分钟－半小时吧～

提示：1. 结合上下文和语境猜词也是重要技能，所以大家尽量先猜词再看中文意思；
2. 打了❤️的句子是我认为有价值背诵的，大家根据自己的情况调整；
3. 原书我会拍照发群里，供各位赏玩；
4. 音标和我们习惯的音标不太一样，需要多熟悉熟悉。

词根：bell
意思：战争war
原文：bell comes from the Latin word meaning “war”. Beeline was the little-known Roman goddess of war, her husband, Mars, was the god of war.

含此词根的词汇列举：
1. antebellum
根据definition先猜猜词意呗：Existing before a war, especially before the American Civil War.
如果猜不出，来看例句：When World War 1 was over, the French nobility found it impossible to return to their extravagant（adj.挥霍的） antebellum way of life.
本句语法结构：when引导的时间状语从句；it做形式宾语
本句中文释义：一战结束后，法国贵族意识到再也无法回到战前挥霍的生活状态。

在介绍段落中有一个句子值得大家背诵，这个句子是描述战前生活画面的：

这个词唤起的是战后大面积消失的安逸、优雅和娱乐画面。
我觉得吧，这个句型可以据为己有融会贯通了：Sth. summons up the image of…

以下学习规则差不多，我就不这么啰嗦了昂：

2. bellicose
Definition: warlike, aggressive, quarrelsome.
Example sentence: The country often elected the more bellicose party after a period of tension along the border, hoping that military action would result.
语法结构：after引导的时间状语从句，hoping非谓语动词引导的目的状语从句
中文翻译：国家往往会在边境紧张期后选举比较好战的一方，希望通过军事活动取得成效。
bellicose adj.好战的
介绍段落说：一个国家的国际关系政策如果比较有侵略性，就会导致其国际关系紧张，因为他们相对谈判和解更倾向于打架。
想想这个句子你自己翻译你会怎么翻？
词典原文：❤️［背诵］The international relations of a nation with a bellicose foreign policy tend to be stormy and difficult, since such a nation looks for opportunities to fight rather than to negotiate.
稍微翻个个儿，这句子又是你的了：
eg. A person with aggressive personality usually tend to be warlike and quarrelsome, since such a person looks for opportunities to fight rather than to negotiate.
一个进攻型的人通常比较好斗、爱吵架，因为他们相对谈判和解更倾向于打架。

3. belligerence
Definition: aggressiveness, combativeness （呵呵这不就是上面那个词的名词？）
Example sentence: ❤️［背诵］The belligerence in Turner’s voice told them that the warning was a serious threat.
语法结构：that引导的宾语从句
中文翻译：特纳声音里的进攻性告诉他们，这次警告可不是开玩笑的。
belligerence n.斗争性；进攻性
漂亮表达又来了：前苏联和美国领导人在冷战中的的进攻性演讲，让世界关系紧张了好多年。
说到紧张，大家用的最多的应该是tense，serious，来看看词典中的原文：❤️［背诵］Belligerent speeches by leaders of the Soviet Union and the US throughout the Cold War kept the world on edge for years.
学到没？！

4. rebellion
Definition: Open defiance and oppositions, sometimes armed, to a person or thing in authority.
Example sentence: The substitute teacher attempted to end the student rebellion by insisting on absolute quiet.
语法结构：主谓宾，by引导方式状语从句
中文翻译：代课老师试图通过要求保持绝对安静来整治不服从的学生。
rebellion n.叛乱；反叛；不服从
现在的孩子不是叛逆吗，或者说有反叛精神，于是词典针对这一情况有如下表达：
❤️［背诵］These days, some degree of rebellion against parents and other authority figures is viewed as a normal part of growing up.
而且这个词读起来很性感啊，跟million， billion的发音一样，诀窍在于段语音i一定要发好嗷～
