词根背景知识补充：这个词根不难联想，比如reject，“拒绝”就是throw it back; eject，“驱逐”则是throw it out; object，“反对”，throw sth. in the way of sth else.


1. adjacent [ə'dʒeisənt]
定义: (1) near, neighboring; (2) sharing a common boundary or border
例句: The warehouse was adjacent to the junction of the two rain rivers, so the body could have been quickly disposed of.
例句语法结构：主谓宾＋so引导的结果状语从句（虚拟语气）
例句中文翻译：仓库正好靠近两条主流的交汇处，所以**起来应该很快。be disposed of被处理；被卖掉。
