1984, crops have not been harvested.
Daughter lied in my arms, asleep sweetly.
The open-air film tonight, too busy to watch.
My wife reminded me, fix sewing machine pedal.
一九八四年庄稼早已收割完
女儿躺在我怀里睡得那么甜
今天的露天电影没时间去看
妻子提醒我修修缝纫机的踏板

Tomorrow I will borrow money from neighbour.
My child cried for all the days, wanted to eat cookies.
Dressing in a blue khaki, the heart is bleeding.
Squat down beside a pond, give myself two fists.
明天我要去邻居家再借点钱
孩子哭了一整天啊闹着要吃饼干
蓝色的涤卡上衣痛往心里钻
蹲在池塘边上给了自己两拳

These words are written in my father's diary, Record his old times just like a prose poetry.
Several decades later, it makes me keep crying.
But my father has been old as, as a withered tree.
这是我父亲日记里的文字
这是他的青春留下来的散文诗
几十年后我看着泪流不止
可我的父亲已经老得像一个影子

1994, crops all have been harvested.
My old mother last year passed away forever.
Daughter combed a ponytail, run into the school.
But recent days she felt lonely, thinner than before.
一九九四年庄稼早已收割完
我的老母亲去年离开了人间
女儿扎着马尾辫跑进了校园
可是她最近有点孤单瘦了一大圈

Think about future, I will be old as the fallen leaves.
And my daughter will become a charming beauty.
Someday the one who loves her will marry her.
When I think about that, I can't bear to see her.
想一想未来我老成了一堆旧纸钱
那时的女儿一定会美得惊艳
有个爱她的男人要娶她回家
可想到这些我却不忍看她一眼
